Business Meeting

Mrs Kim Tutor, President, WSSNC.
Business meeting called to order at 2:35 PM
Old business consisted of the transfer of funds from the Morgan-Stanley account to the endowment account. This move nearly doubled the endowment and will allow for increased student awards going forward. A motion to accept the 2023 proceedings was properly moved and seconded. The motion passed.
New business consisted of the discussion of a possible change in meeting venue moving forward. There was a final registration of 103 members and guest for the 2023 meeting. This is near exceeding the potential seating and poster display space at the Arboretum. Members agreed that the board should make the appropriate decision moving forward to allow The Society to continue to grow. The board will meet and visit potential sites, making a decision soon.
Mr. Steve Hoyle, presented the financial report. At the conclusion of the 2022 meeting, The Society had $3,701 in checking. Expenses to date for the 2023 meeting totaled $2,939. After 2023 registration and expenses, the account stands at 4,805.21. This amount meets The Societies expectation to maintain sufficient funds in checking to cover the expenses of two meetings.
After the 2022 meeting, a total of $49,354 was moved from the Morgan-Stanley investment account to the endowment. This brings the current endowment total to $94,878. The board maintained $12,000 in the Morgan-Stanley account at a fixed interest rate of 4.5%. These funds are accessible in the case of an emergency need.
Mrs. Kim Tutor passed the gavel to Dr. Charlie Cahoon and the meeting was adjourned at 2:55 PM.
